A Quick Review of Ryan Sieg

Ryan Sieg continued his impressive season with a second-place finish on Saturday despite spending most of the race mid-pack. At 14.93, 2024 has his best average since 2019 (14.61), fueled by an Xfinity series-best 78% success rate. That average finish is better than fellow race winners Riley Herbst (15.11), Smith (15.3), Justin Allgaier (15.44), Shane Van Gisbergen (16.11), and Sam Mayer (19.52). Of drivers with a sub-20 AFP, only Poole (26.24) and SvG (17.63) start from a worse position than Sieg's 16.63 average start.

This has always been there for Sieg. He's consistently been a positive driver by success rate. His positions finished above expected (PFAE) has hovered around neutral (this year it's a very good 3.434 on skill tracks — non-drafting ovals and road courses). When his cars have been decent, he's been able to find these 14-16th place AFPs. His stats on skill tracks:
