Brandon Jones Back to JGR

Jones is returning to Joe Gibbs' Xfinity team, where he had his best years.

Joe Gibbs Racing announced in September that Brandon Jones is returning to their Xfinity team for 2025. Jones' best season was with JGR, back, in 2020, where he won three races. In all, he won five races over his five years with JGR, and hasn't won any since moving to JR Motorsports.

With JGR, Jones had numbers that would look good in Cup, which is extremely competitive. In Xfinity, they're less impressive. AFPs of 13 and 16 are first-round playoff exit numbers. At JRM, his AFPs were 17 in 2023 and 19 in 2024. Those don't make the cut. He's missed the playoffs in both of his JRM seasons.

Jones isn't an additive driver. He gets about what he should from his rides, with success rates sitting between 50 and 65%. His PFAEs sit negative on average, with four negative years, bottoming out at -2.3 in 2019, and peaking at 0.3 the year prior. He can win a race or two in the right car, and given the sponsorship he brings, that's a fine driver to have in the third or fourth car of an Xfinity program.
