Stat Pack: 2024 Cup Series YellaWood 500 Preview

Picks: Super speedways are always tricky to predict. The best finishers on supers this year are Kyle Busch (10.20 AFP) and Alex Bowman (11.00). They've also finished every race, which is a good sign on supers, but so have nine others. Busch and Bowman have both finished in the top ten in three of their five races — the only perfect finishers with such a successful rate. With no repeat winners on drafting tracks this year, Busch and Bowman are probably the best you can do.

Going back to 2023, there are only two repeat winners: Joey Logano and William Byron. Logano is boom-or-bust: he's won two but only has two other top tens. The Penske drivers love running up front, but for Logano (and Austin Cindric), doing so is fraught:

Byron is 8/11 in finishes, 7/10 in top tens since 2023. He has the third-best AFP behind Busch and Daniel Hemric. If you like to go with winners, Byron is your best choice.
