Ryan Blaney came into this race with the third best weighted average running position, but the twelfth best average finish. He's struggled to convert quality positions late in races (his wARP is two positions better than his ARP). But he got it done today with a skillful pass of Denny Hamlin and William Byron.
How about Carson Hocevar? Like Blaney, he's struggle to convert speed into finishes. His start-to-finish numbers like PFAE and success rate are woeful. But by all other measures like GR-LR and PGAE, he's performed to a playoff standard. With the 19th best average start, he's got the tenth best ARP, but the 32nd best average finish.
Perhaps Nashville will be a turning point for both.
